The final Young Mothers workshop was held last Tuesday 6th March in Lautoka. This workshop invited mothers who had attended at least one workshop from the previous series in Nadi, Lautoka, Ba and Tavua.   The aim of the final workshop was to engage local stakeholders to discuss with the mothers, ways of overcoming barriers to achieve their goals, bring together all mothers as a base for social networking, provide an opportunity for family planning and women’s health checks, and celebrate International Women’s Day (March 8th). Young Mothers participants invited to Ministry of Youth and Sports symposium. The Ministry of Youth and Sports recently asked VSHC to invite five participants from the Young Mothers program to attend their ‘Women’s Entrepreneurial and Leadership Youth Symposium’ (WELYS). The theme of the symposium was ‘empowering the next generation of female leaders in Fiji’. The invited mothers were chosen due to their commitment and enthusiasm shown during the Young Mothers workshops, and their interest in the topics presented. Phase 3: Financial Literacy 24th March 2017 (Ministry of Youth Conference Hall, Lautoka) Participants: 17 young mothers Unfortunately many of the mothers who attended the previous phases 1 and 2 of the Young Mothers Project were unable to attend phase 3 due to a death in their village.  Mothers who attended the Lautoka phase 3 came from Vanuakula and Vadraiyawasewa settlements and had previously participated in Young Mothers Project activities and workshops.
