Professor Rajat Gyaneshwar; MBBS, FRANZCOG (ret), MH EdM

Rajat was born and bred in Labasa, Fiji. Educated at St Mary’s, All Saints and Marist Brothers High School in Fiji. Graduated in Medicine from UNSW. After working in Fiji at CWM, Lautoka and Sigatoka Hospital, he went for postgraduate studies in Sydney, becoming a specialist in O&G. He proceeded to the UK for further training and experience, returning to Fiji to work as a specialist at CWM, as acting Dean of Fiji School of Medicine. After the 1st military coup, he resigned and worked in Sydney till 2010. He has worked in senior clinical and administrative capacities and was a conjoint associate professor in Sydney. He has done several international consultancies for the WHO, UNFPA and other international bodies. He served on the NSW medical board for several years and has been an examiner for the Australian Medical Council and RANZCOG. He is married to Dr Swaran Naidu and has a grown-up family. Between 2011 and 2015, he was the Professor of O&G; then, Acting Dean in 2015 at Fiji National University.

Dr Swaran Naidu DSM, Dip Obs, FRANZCOG (Ret)

Swaran was born in Lautoka, Fiji, and attended Drasa Indian, Lovu Sangam, Tuvu Indian School, and Natabua High School. She graduated from the Fiji School of Medicine in 1978 and worked at CWM Hospital, Raiwaqa Health Centre and Lautoka Hospital. She went to Wellington Women’s Hospital on a WHO Fellowship to do her Diploma in O&G. For postgraduate training, she was at the National Women’s Hospital in Auckland and then at Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney. She has a research background in Menopause and has been a speaker at international meetings. She has been a consultant in O&G at the Royal Hospital for Women and has been actively involved in training undergraduates and postgraduates. She has been an examiner for the Australian Medical Council.

Dr. Swaran also worked as an Associate Professor for Fiji National University from 2011 to 2017.

She was the medical director of VSHC until 2018, with interests in women's health and empowerment of women.
