Dr Finau Dansey has commenced a 12 month attachment at VSHC to assist with the strengthening of the Public Health component of VSHC activities. She brings 12 years of clinical experience which will be invaluable both in general outpatient services and the outreach work in the Non Communicable Diseases and Sexual and Reproductive Health areas. Trainee Interns at VSHC
The Medical School at Fiji National University runs a 6 year undergraduate medical program. The final year is the trainee internship program in which the students are prepared for their service role upon graduation. During the year they are rotated through terms in Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Public Health. As from mid 2013 students have been attached to VSHC during their Public Health term. This year the attachments are for a period of 3 weeks. Repositioning Family Planning Conference.
On April 9th, 2013 Professor Gyaneshwar spoke at the "Repositioning Family Planning" Conference held at Viseisei in the village hall. Other participants were United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) reproductive health advisor Doctor Wame Baravilala, Colonial War Memorial Hospital head of gynaecology Doctor James Fong, and the officer-in-charge UNFPA Pacific Lorna Rolls.
