End of the Year Event - Empowering Communities for Wellness. The Viseisei Sai Health Centre celebrated its end of the year event on Monday 21st November 2016 at the Ratu Iloilovatu House in Viseisei. Community Action Program update

VSHC has been working with the Community to avoid life style risk factors, which make one unhealthy. This work has been made possible with funding from the Fiji Community Development Program, an Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) aid project. This funding comes to an end in November. A key strategy of the project was to train, deploy and support Community Health Officers. Nutrition and GESI Workshop

The main purpose of this workshop held on September 2nd, 2016 was to build the capacity of VSHC staff and CHW’s in the areas of Nutrition and Gender Equality. The Nutrition workshop was conducted by Volunteer Dietician Danielle and Dietician Rylene and a total of 23 people attended the workshop as part of staff capacity building. The presentation focussed on promoting a healthy staff program and included carrying out a SNAP survey of the staff. Youth Sports Bazaar Report

The Viseisei Sai Health Centre (VSHC) inspired youth group, Inspiration Network, organised a sports bazaar on the 27th of September, 2016 at the Viseisei Primary School grounds. The group was formed with the aim of inspiring each other to develop and grow, as well as empower other youths to do the same. The group has started small and consists of members who are staff of VSHC, as well as the Ministry of Health, with plans to involve other youths from the area later. Two new volunteer Dietitians join VSHC Team.

Melissa Skerman and Danielle Cooper Melissa and Danielle are volunteer dietitians from Australia who will be joining the Viseisei Sai Health Centre team from August 2016.  Melissa graduated with a Master of Dietetics from the University of Queensland in 2016. Danielle graduated with a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Sydney in 2013. Workshops and Outreach

The CCOHSI team has 11 members consisting of a Project Manager, Health Promotion Officer, Health Educator, Research Officer, two Social Workers/Counsellors, one Community Nurse and one Clinical Nurse, a Research Assistant, a Data Entry Person and a Driver.
